Ft. McDowell is a frequent location chosen by Whiplash to host races; with the local support of Yavapai Materials and enthusiasm from competitors it’s a prime choice. Typically a technical and motor cross style course this event would be no different. With it being a local event the turn out was grand and the energy was overwhelming.
Ray and the All Fays Racing team ventured out on Friday afternoon to claim their ideal spot to pit and enjoy the weekend. As usual, Ray was able to set up just off the course in a desirable location. Saturday was full of technical inspection and registration followed with driver’s meetings and a course update. It was early to bed that night to prepare for the race the next morning. It would be a timed race of one hour with one additional lap after the leader had crossed the line on about a 3.5 mile loop of whoops, table top jumps and straight-aways.
Sunday morning the team couldn’t ask for better weather as they set up the pit and Ray prepared to ride. On the start there were seven open pros on the first line and six vet. pros including Ray, on the second. The flag would fall and Ray would be fourth off the line, but quickly passing the three in front during the first lap.
As the green blur of Ray soared by, the laps would continue and Ray was able to maintain his lead… inching further and further from the next vet. pro and already passing three open pros. By lap 9 Ray was 4th overall and 1st in his class. Ray pressed on and the Kawasaki continued to perform with greatness. At lap 13 the checkered flag was out, with Ray still in the lead by over a minute a sigh of relief and accomplishment was let out in the pits.
Ray would complete 14 laps, never needing to enter the pits, even for gas. He finished first in his class. It was a great win and an amazing day for a race!
As always, Ray and the All Fays Racing Team would like to thank all of the sponsors. Without their continued support and contributions much of this would be unattainable. To all the family, friends and fans who support, a special thank you. Ray appreciates all you do for him. If you have any questions regarding the Kawasaki 450 or how to become a sponsor please contact Ray at rayfay3@allfaysracing.com. Ray will next be preparing for Best in the Desert’s Golden West Cycle Las Vegas 150 in Jean, Nevada on October 24-26. Keep checking back for continued updates.
